  • Do we need to have both an antivirus and an anti-spyware scanner?
    No, Our software has both antivirus and antispyware.
  • Do we have to uninstall the existing antivirus program before installing a new one?
    Yes, For proper functioning of Software you have to uninstall any other existing antivirus.
  • Can two antivirus scanners be run on the same system at the same time?
    It is never suggested to run two antivirus simultaneously on a same system because it can hang your system.
  • What do I need to do to make sure AntiVirus will find the newest viruses?
    Product updates are posted on the website. You can also to use the Update feature to check for, download, and install the updates.

  • How could a virus get on my diskettes or hard disk drive?
    There are a number a ways for a virus to be spread. A diskette that is used to transfer files from one computer to another, for example a file shared among co-workers. A file downloaded from the Internet or received via e-mail can be infected.
  • How to manually update Protegent virus definitions on a computer that does not have Internet access?
    To update the product offline please do the following:
    Step 1: Disable Protegent Self-protection by right-clicking on its icon in system tray and selecting corresponding option.
    Step 2: Shutdown Protegent by right-clicking on the program icon in the system tray and selecting corresponding option.
    Step 3: Save the backup copy of *.XML and *.VDB files, located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Filt\ to the corresponding folder on the PC
    without Internet access.
  • Why does one scanner detect a virus but another does not?
    Virus detection is depends on signature base. They are unique to their products.
  • How to manually update Protegent virus definitions on a computer that doesn’t have Internet Access?
    Process 1
    To update the product offline please do the following:
    • Open Protegent Antivirus and click on update
    • Then, click on either Primary download server or Secondary download server to reach the page to down the offline update for Protegent Antivirus
    • After that, click on .exe file of Protegent which directly downloads update for Protegent Antivirus and used to update Protegent in computer that doesn’t have internet access.
    Process 2
    To update the product offline please do the following:
    • Open Protegent360.com and go to the download option in the menu.
    • Click on Offline update from the download menu
    • You will be redirected to the page of offline update. After that, click on .exe file of Protegent which directly downloads update for Protegent Antivirus and used to update Protegent in computer that doesn’t have internet access.
  • Am I using a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows?
    Protegent Antivirus is compatible/supports both 32 bit and 64 bit operating system, so users need not to worry about the Windows bit version.
  • Can I use this software on any Windows operating system?
    Protegent Antivirus Solution works perfectly fine with all Windows operating system including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 as well.
